Hi friends!
I have been getting a lot of questions about what I use for my smoothies during the challenge and also just for everyday use. I have put together a list of products I use personally and recommend during your wellness journey. These are not necessary to complete any of my challenges. These are merely guidelines for you.
I don’t recommend things I don’t stand behind or use personally. I am a researcher and therefore I tend to take a lot of time when selecting products, especially ones that I am putting in my body. Be selective with what you choose and choose the ones that fit you and your lifestyle.
This list will continue to grow and expand as we go. Click any link below to see what we personally use in our family!
Blenders
We love and use the Vitamix. It is hands down the best blender I have ever used. It is on the pricey side but completely worth every penny. Smoothies are blended to perfection. You can make soups right in it and it even heats them while blending if you want. We’ve used it for nut butters, smoothies, soups, guac, hummus and so much more. Highly recommend if it’s it in your budget. (There are several models for the Vitamix. I’ve linked the one I personally own).
The other mini blender we use is the magic bullet. My girls use this quick easy blending of smoothies.
Protein Powder
This is a tough one for a lot of people. There are so many variations and flavor choices for protein powder today. There are also a lot of proteins combined with other ingredients for added nutrition. Again I’ll share what I personally use and you can see if it fit’s your needs.
- Primal Kitchen Collagen Fuel. I love the chocolate coconut but it comes in a variety of flavors including unflavored.
- Nicole Wilkins Protein Powder This is great if you are doing a lifting routine. It mixes perfectly with water in a blender cup. I’ve tried both chocolate and vanilla and they are both great.
Chia Seeds
Good source of fiber. I add chia seeds to every smoothie and to my oatmeal bowls.
Hemp Seeds
So many benefits in hemp seeds from omega 3 and 6 to amino acids and protein. I add this to both smoothies and oatmeal as well.
Spirulina
Spirulina has so much goodness in this little powerhouse of a powder. It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient – which is the main reason we use it. It is blueish/green, so it can turn your smoothie that color.
These are the top things we use when making smoothies. As far as the rest of the ingredients that go into your smoothies, do your best to pick organic when possible. If organic is not an option, you want to look for the most natural choice available.
No added sugars or chemicals. Non-GMO when possible.
The fewer the ingredient list the better!
Happy Smoothie making!
